Join ELOPE Musical Theatre in celebrating their 40th anniversary with a presentation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat from June 16-24 at the Westbury Theatre, Fringe Theatre Arts Barns, 10030 84 Ave.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is the musical that launched the Rice-Lloyd Webber collaboration, becoming a multi-award-winning show performed in over 80 countries and recognized as one of the world’s most beloved family musicals. It features many songs that have gone on to become pop and musical theatre classics, including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To Me, There’s One More Angel In Heaven and Go, Go, Go Joseph.
The story of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is a tale that follows the journey of a dreamer. Joseph is the son of Jacob and one of twelve brothers. He is given a coat of many colours by his father, which is symbolic of his favour and an object of his brothers’ jealousy. The brothers decide to sell Joseph into slavery after initially plotting to have him killed. Convincing their father that his favourite son has died, they reveal his tattered coat and believe that they are rid of him once and for all.
