Audition Dates: Feb 17th and 19th , 6:30 -10:00 pm
Callbacks/Dance Call: Sunday Feb 22nd 1-5 pm
Rehearsals begin: March 8, 2026 and are normally Tues/Thurs evenings and Sunday afternoons, with some Saturdays.
Play Synopsis:
42nd Street is a musical set in the 1930s about putting on a large show-biz production. The musical newcomer is Peggy Sawyer, a young girl from Allentown, Pennsylvania who just wants to be part of a Broadway show. When the show's leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy must prove her talent to replace her. The score is full of Broadway standards, including "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me," "Dames," "We're In the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and "Forty-Second Street."

AUDITION INFO
Auditions will happen in a group setting in 30 minute time slots and will consist of singing 32-
bar excerpts (basically a verse and a chorus), showing songs that suggest the 30’s era.
Suggestions include songs in the style of Cole Porter, Harry Warren or classic broadway
musicals. Auditions may use tracks or bring sheet music in the correct key and marked up with
the correct cuts. Singing song excerpts from the show is also permitted. Auditions may include
possible readings from the script. If the auditioner is proficient in tap dance, a tap step may be
requested such as pickups and wings.
CALLBACKS will include a dance call (that will also include a tap dance call) as well as singing
role specific songs and readings from the script..

Resume (theatre related)
ALL conflicts with rehearsal dates including vacations, concerts, holiday commitments and jobs
between February 8 – June 27, 2026. Please note that from tech week to closing night, there
can be no scheduling conflicts (June 1-27 inclusive).
PLEASE NOTE THAT BEING IN THIS SHOW PRECLUDES BEING INVOLVED IN OTHER SHOWS THAT
REHEARSE AT THE SAME TIME

PEGGY SAWYER
Female, Ingenue (Vocal Range: Mezz/Belt), Int-Advanced tap dancer who can belt. Must be able
to do pullbacks and wings.
JULIAN MARSH
Successful Broadway Director. Male (Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor up to Ab).
DOROTHY BROCK
Established Female Star, mature (Vocal Range: low Alto/Belt to low Eb) , elegant; move wells,
comic timing helpful. No tap required.
BILLY LAWLOR
Male lead of the Broadway show, 20s-30s (Vocal Range: Soaring Tenor), must be decent tap
dancer .
MAGGIE JONES
Mature Female, (Vocal Range: Alto/Belt) she is half of the married couple who are the writers
of the show that is being produced. Good mover, tap dance helpful but not mandatory,
charming and comic
BERT BARRY
Mature Male, (Vocal Range: Baritone) the other half of the married writing duo; moves well,
good comic timing.
ABNER DILLION
Mature Male, (Vocal Range: Bass/Baritone) the money. He is Dorothy’s "sugar daddy" from
Oklahoma.
PAT DENNING
Mature Male, (Vocal Range: Baritone) a handsome vaudeville performer down on his luck;
Dorothy Brock's true love.
ANDY/ANDI LEE
Any Gender (Vocal Range: Bari or Mezzo D3 - F4) ,the dance director of the show; strong tap
dancer
ANYTIME ANNIE
Female, chorus dancer (Vocal Range: Alto/Belt). Int-advanced tap dancer with comic timing
PHYLLIS/LORRAINE/DIANE/ETHEL
Tap dancing chorus girls with small speaking roles (will also sing with the ensemble). Tap level
Int and up.
MAC (non dance, some ensemble singing)
Mature Male. The stage manager that keeps the shows together.
OSCAR
Any gender. The onstage rehearsal pianist. Actual piano-playing ability is helpful. Some
ensemble singing.
ENSEMBLE
Male and Female, (Vocal Ranges: Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Mezzo, Soprano), dancers (tap
and non tap) who can sing and singers who can dance.
* NOTE: Several smaller roles will be cast from the ensemble.
